Colin Robertson Collection

Craft technology was developed in Crete in Minoan times. The techniques of architecture, wall-painting, textiles, ceramics and jewelry where imported, refined and applied with gusto to native Minoan themes.A Minoan who commissioned a piece of jewelry in those days would have chosen from designs which included stylized platforms, nautical motifs and religious scenes and symbols. In this collection of

Minoan and Early Greek jewelry, I have re-created the most common and enduring motifs of the Minoan repertory and combined these with the semi-precious stones which were available to the Minoan craftsmen. My goal has been to  create pieces which would have made a Minoan jewler proud - and his customer happy.

The pieces in my collection look as thogh they were made three and a half thousand years ago - and unearthed yesterday. Silver items are sterling silver (925) and are hallmarked according to Greek and Europian Union law. Gold plated items are heavy 22k gold plate on bronze. With care, and normal wear, the plating is good for many years.

One of a kind hand made creations made from Sterling Silver 926 - Gold 14k
